Cueing and recasting grammar interventions target the expressive grammar skills (morphosyntax) of children aged 5 years with Specific Language Impairment. Intervention is delivered in a Language Development Centres, specialised schools for children with language impairment, by Speech and Language Therapists and classroom teachers and consists of weekly 1-hr sessions for 8 weeks.

Intervention is based on evidence that children with specific language impairment (SLI) have difficulty acquiring grammatical morphemes such as past tense or third person singular (e.g., Leonard, 2000; Rice, Wexler, & Cleave, 1995) and evidence that grammar treatment programmes delivered in classrooms can be effective (Smith-Lock, Leitão, Lambert, and Nickels (2013) and Smith-Lock et al. (2013).
